Facelifted Volvo C70 is also now even cheaper slicing $10,000 from its price making it one of the most affordable convertible hard tops in Australia. Reasonably well priced, starting from $59,950 for the entry level 2.4 LE 4 cylinder model up to $69,950 for the T5 5 cylinder Turbo version. Mechanically it remains pretty much untouched only with minor tweaks here and there. 2.4 Litre MPI 4 cylinder engine with 125Kw of power and 230Nm of torque in the 2.4 LE model needs to work harder to move the C70 1700kg weight around. On another hand, top of the line T5 with its turbocharged 2.5 Litre 5 cylinder unit is far happier adding extra 44Kw and 90Nm at its disposal. Available in either five speed manual or 6 speed automatic at no extra cost, performance of the 2.4 LE is quite acceptable reaching 0-100km/hr in 9.2 seconds. Its bigger brother manages to cover the same distance in 7.5 seconds and it does that with respectable fuel consumption sipping average of 9.1l/100km. Its facial makeover C70 scored its biggest slice of changes, introducing brand new front end treatment that is vastly becoming the new Family face of Volvo cars. Bulging front grill with sweeping headlights that looks almost moulded to the guards has given the car more appealing sleeker look. New set of LED taillights also shared with the Volvo XC60 have been added at the rear. Interior updates include changes to the instrument panel that also grew in size to slightly wider proportions, with added touch of better materials used across the dashboard and console area also adding little aluminum touches that saw it lifting the overall quality feel and look of the interior. To no surprise, scoring highly on the safety list it’s fitted with rollover protection system, front, side and curtain airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, VSC with traction control, ABS with EBS and Volvo WHIPS anti-whiplash protection for the front occupants. Saving best for last Volvo much improved body control thanks to its stiffer body its where this freshen up C70 scores very well. Ready and waiting for Australian summer!
