Volkswagen is soon to introduce its stylish all new Jetta replacing the existing model pushing it further away from its current Golf connection, establishing itself as a standalone mid size sedan. The new Jetta will be bigger than the model it replaces adding 90mm to its length and 70mm to its wheelbase that will generate extra rear legroom. However, its boot capacity will be reduced by marginal 20L from 530L to 510L, which is still bigger than most of its rivals. This almost unnoticeable boot shrinkage is at the expense of roomier interior with 40/60 split-folding rears that will add additional loading space. It’s expected for the Jetta to be powered by its existing 1.4L Twin Turbo petrol and 2.0L Turbo diesel engines when it finally reaches our shores. Stop-start option activated when the car is stationary in line with Volkswagen BlueMotion technology is yet to be confirmed for Australia. From safety point of view it’s likely to be fitted with 6 airbags and electronic stability/traction control as part of the standard fitment. Pricing and estimated launch date for Australia is yet to be confirmed but is likely to follow initial USA and Europe rollout arriving sometime during second half of 2011.
