Volkswagen farewells its 2.5L five-cylinder engine

According to recently surfaced report on British online publication Car and Driver Volkswagen is in the process of replacing its long serving 2.5L five-cylinder petrol engine with smaller Turbo charged four-cylinder alternative on popular Volkswagen makes such as VW Passat, Golf, Jetta and recently unveiled all-new VW Beetle. Whilst Volkswagen is yet to make its decision on which type of four-cylinder unit is likely to replace the 2.5L five-cylinder version from the existing four-cylinder engines that includes a 1.4L, 1.8L and 2.0L its being reported that Volkswagen is likely to select the 1.8L version due to its lower production costs.
