When it comes to style we are not sure what category to choose for this vehicle. Mixed online review also suggests love or hate approach. However, most that did their research and have actually visited Skoda Showrooms to inspect this strangely looking vehicle end-up having positive feeling about the design, functionality and quality it represented. In terms of value for money it is reasonable priced starting at $25,900 for the FSI 5 speed manual model up to $27,900 for the diesel version which is only offered with 5 speed manual. There is automatic option for the FSI with $2,400 premium. Considering that Skoda is now part of the Volkswagen group it receives majority of its components from the Volkswagen parts bin that includes anything and everything used across its parent company vehicles range. In fact, this vehicle is partially based on Audi A4 platform whilst using parts that are also utilised in other vehicles such as Octavia, Superb, VW Golf and from Audi range. Looking at the design it’s almost like the front has been designed for speed whilst back of the car resembles a small mini wan. Even on the inside the front seats are positioned lower then back seats making you feel you are driving normal sedan.  Cleverly designed interior also offers multiple choices to alter the overall loading space.  Entire Rear passenger row can be moved either forward or rearward by 17cm providing more space for rear occupants or simply to create more luggage space. On top of that the rear seats can be folded 40/20/40 or all the way down to alternate rear loading capacity. For maximum loading space rear seat assembly can also be removed from the car. Offered in 1.6 litre FSI or 1.9 litre TDI it offers reasonable performance. But don’t expect anything more than average. Petrol version developing 78kW with 155Nm of power will push the Roomster to 100km/h in 10.5 seconds in manual version whilst it will take a full second more for the auto version. Turbo Diesel version develops equal level of power with 78kw with 245Nm; however, the extra torque doesn’t translate into improved performance returning identical 11.4 seconds as the FSI Auto version.
Both versions return respectable fuel economy where FSI petrol variant will deliver 7.3l/100km figure whilst Turbo Diesel version will cover the same distance using only 5.4l of fuel.
In Safety Skoda Roomster offers 6 air bags, ABS, Electronic Stability Control, Dynamic Stability Control and traction control. Generally Skoda Roomster scores highly in its category providing yet another alternative that offers car/small SUV experience.
