Based on Peugeot “5 by Peugeot”concept car  it is scheduled for its early 2011 initial release in Europe. Engine selection will see this new Peugeot powered by Euro 5-compliant HDi Turbo Diesel and Hybrid Turbo Diesel with electric motor located at the rear of the car. Australia will probably have to wait until mid-2011 before Peugeot 508 fills its local showrooms. It is rumoured that both variants, sedan and station wagon, will be available here in Australia. Hybrid 508 is yet to be confirmed.  However, considering ever-growing Hybrid popularity with its almost overnight explosion of wast variety of different offerings by many manufactures it is likely for the 2.0 Litre Diesel electric models to reach our shores. Packing combined power of 155kW with added all-wheel drive capability when both Diesel and Electric motors are running it is sure to become very popular contender.  Pricing of the new 508 is yet to be confirmed, but it is expected to be competitively priced against European mid-sized sedans. Peugeot is tight-lipped about its safety and equipment list of inclusion but its expected for 508 to offer long list of standard inclusions.
