Recently publicised Mazda intentions to introduce new line-up of super-efficient petrol engines with some interesting innovative approach in other areas of their vehicle design and mechanicals all working in harmony to produce significant fuel savings across the range without penalising power delivery will start as early as next year. One of the first to benefit from this revelation will be upcoming Mazda 2 SkyActiv-G. External sources suggest initial rollout to be limited to local (Japan) distribution only, followed by International distribution later in the year. Mazda SkyActiv-G engine choice will be limited to 1.3 Litre and 1.5 litre four- cylinder engines mated to Mazda SkyActiv-G automatic transmission promising incredible fuel consumption of 3.2 Litres City Hwy combined cycle. When considering current local Mazda 2 offering with its 1.5 litre donk it will represent over 50% reduction in fuel consumption. Australian delivery and engine choice is yet to be confirmed, but when considering current offering, 1.5 Litre SkyActiv-G is more likely.
