Not one model, as earlier anticipated, with many predicting rebirth of highly popular Esprit, Lotus surprised automotive world with plans to build five new models by 2015. Plans are underway to release all new Elise, Elan, Esprit, Eterne and Elite within the next 5 years. New to the line-up for Lotus will be the introduction of grand tourer Eterne set to be powered by 5-litre turbo V8 with 2 or 4-wheel drive configuration and super light two seater Lotus Elan with high capacity V6 engine. Also in the pipeline is the hardtop convertible V8 powered Elite. This marks the return of Lotus high-powered force induction 6 and 8 cylinder propelled lightweight supercars moving away from current Toyota 4 cylinder dependency. Also, it will mark Lotus return to highly anticipated and pricier supercar line-up capable to compete with the cars like Ferrari and Porsche. This is all part of the revitalisation of Lotus supercar status under new management headed by Dany Bahar that has recently shifted from Ferrari. Supported by push from the above from new owner Proton, that has seen substantial investment commitment over the next 5-10 years introducing entirely new and existing models whilst also increasing overall productivity by at least 40%.  And this is all exiting news for Lotus.
