Lotus very affordable track weapon Elise S mechanical transformation resulted in under hood capacity downsize from 1.8 Litre Toyota 4 cylinder engine to yet another Toyota sourced 1.6 Litre 4 cylinder engine. Reducing its size resulted in slight torque drop from 175Nm down to 162Nm. However, achieved fuel consumption can only be regarded as superb reducing it by almost 37% when compared to outgoing model that also so the CO2 figure plummeting by Lotus claimed 12%.
Its 6.2L/100km fuel consumption dips towards small car category but without sacrificing its sports car pedigree. Performance wise slightly slower, increasing its 0-100km/h in the straight line figure to still very respectable 6.5 seconds. Priced at just under $70,000 it is very justifiable way of owning a car that will not disappoint.
