It has been long time coming for Holden recently released updated VE version VE MY II series. Boasting full of internal upgrades, mainly to its drivetrain, Holden emphasised on fuel consumption savings with added but subtle exterior and interior changes. Holden also focused on greater functionality and sustainable performance of its upgraded model. GM inclusion of Bio Fuel alternative to be compatible with its 3.0L SIDI V6 and 6.0L V8 will see significant reduction overall CO2 emissions. Immediate recognition needs to be allocated to the achieved improved fuel efficiency of its petrol V8 manual now 12% more efficient then the outgoing model. Its 3.0L SIDI recorded 2% reduction whilst introduction of six speed auto across the range (Omega) previously fitted with older 4 speed alternative will benefit with  further 11% improvement. Excluded from flexible fuel capability at least until late 2011 will be its strong selling 3.6L V6 powerhouse. However, major engine tweaks contributed to 1-4% efficiency improvement on normal fuel. To ensure enough Bio-Fuel or Bio-Ethanol is widely available to meet demand Holden and Caltex have entered into an agreement to provide accessibility to such fuel on a national level by introducing 31 servos around Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane and Canberra with plans to have it extended to over 100 by the end of 2011. Caltex will make the fuel available as Bio E-Flex at selected servos. Furthermore, Holden car more aerodynamically redesign of underlay and introduction of On demand A/C compressor with its 3.6L unit that shuts down when not in use contributed to improved results. Its exterior changes add softer touches to the overall presentation of VE MY11 Series II. Sporting revised front headlight treatment, new more stylish grill with far more appealing bumper especially in the lower section, new side skirts, more aero designed rear boot incorporating lip spoiler, reverse camera across the range (except ute) and addition of new 17”, 18 and 19” alloys. Holden also added series of new exterior colours to its range.

On the inside, biggest notable alteration points to the dash area with new centre stack incorporating 6.5”touch screen display now standard across the range, newly designed ventilation outlet ducts and climate control buttons. Furthermore, SV6 and SS series benefited with distinctively different circular designed high-mount air duct outlets, revised instrument clusters and more supportive seats with added new colour combination to give it more sportier feel. Holden entertainment unit called iQ infotainment system is now USB and iPod compatible. Also incorporated into this latest techno upgrade will see the introduction of voice control operated Satellite navigation with live traffic updates forming part of the standard fitment on SS V, Calais and Caprice models.

Wrapping up, this moderately updated series 2 2010 Holden Commodore adding further stability towards maintaining its ongoing popularity in today’s competitive market as Australia most popular strongest selling sedan.  Pricing of this newly introduced 2011 Holden Commodore VE MY11 Series 2 is yet to be announced by Holden.
