It is hard to believe that with all that talk about hybrid or electric powered cars, increasing cost of fuel whilst not ignoring the effects of vehicle pollution on the environment our consistently growing greed for more powerful sedans must be stronger than ever. Otherwise Holden or Ford will not be involved in consistent race to produce fastest most powerful sedans.

Just as Ford is finalising its replacement for trusted but old V8 to power its flagship FPV falcons and XR8 range with supercharged powerhouse Holden is secretly considering its own secret weapon ready to take on any opposition. In fact this could become one of the most powerful V8 powered Aussie sedan ever build. Ford claimed figure of 335kW supercharged GT powered by new supercharged Coyote engine with expected reintroduction of highly anticipated GT-HO sedan lifting the figure by another 40kW will be no match to monstrous 420kW supercar power. Based on the popular LSA V8 engine already powering supercharged Cadillac CTS-V and soon to be released Camaro that shares its underpinnings with VE it shouldn’t  be to difficult for Holden engineers  to fit this monster into Commodore.

Cadillac CTS-V LSA 6.3 Litre V8 is boosted by an Eaton single supercharger that has been detuned to produce less power than LS9 V8 engine from which it is derived. However, still very potent and capable unit delivering 4.1 seconds from 0-100km/h whilst covering 400 meters in 12.5 seconds its performance figures can hardly be ignored. In fact, anything that covers 0-100km/h in less than five seconds is automatically included into a supercar category. This detuned LSA version with single smaller supercharger is slightly taller then LS9 version currently powering Corvette that would require bonnet modification to make it fit. We assume that by the time this becomes a reality Holden and Ford would already have some type of hybrid technology in the pipeline mixing supercar power with sensible fuel economy to keep these battles alive. We Hope….
