BMW announcement to introduce the new speed limit System designed to advice drivers of actual speed limits its yet another BMW innovative approach towards providing drivers of BMW cars with state of the art safety systems that will be available in Australia later this year. The system relays on internally fitted camera monitoring the road signs for actual speed limits which is then compared with the data from the navigation system. Actual speed limit is then displayed in the centre of the instrument cluster or via its head-up display that project this information onto the windscreen. This system will take into account variable speed limits recently introduced around schools or temporary speed limits that are used during ongoing road works as the speed limits recorder by the camera will be given the priority over the information recorded in the database of its navigation system.
Such innovative approach will ensure that driver of the BMW will be provided with the most up to date speed limits information at all times regardless of the road conditions. As quoted by BMW Australia Managing Director Stavros Yallouridis; “The ultimate driving machine must offer unrivalled performance capabilities, as well as the most advanced safety systems available in the world today” , “This technology is a first for the Australian market, and typifies the approach BMW takes in respect to development of cutting-edge technology solutions,” And that is absolutely correct. BMW recently launched BMW 5 and 7 series so the introduction of cutting edge innovations that few years ago would have been regarded as impossible further cementing BMW reputation for building ultimate driving machines. This latest gadget designed to further enhance BMW drivers experience will be available in conjunction with navigation system as part of the professional package offered in top end 7 series models as part of the standard equipment. It will also be available as optional equipment for the remaining of the 7 series and 5 series line-up.
