Celebrating 25 years of BMW M3 what better way to recreate the level of excitement that sends shivers down the spine than adding hard-core M3 version to the already excellent M3 car line up. Well BMW did surprise everybody with its race purpose build vehicle E92 M3 GTS. Individual coloured, its bright orange paintwork can be seen miles away screaming “don’t mess with me, I’m different” to other wannabe Autobahn challengers. After all, this purpose build vehicle has taken its first footsteps under watchful BMW know-how engineers making it almost indestructible. Its already potent V8 engine has been bored out to 4.4 Litre capacity increasing its output by 22kW whilst adding extra 40Nm to its final figure bringing the total power to 331kW and 440Nm of torque. Slicing 0.2 seconds from its super quick 4.6 seconds in a standard form. Assuming that this is insignificant would be very wrongful, as any improvement in sub 5-second category is not that easy and should be considered impressive. All of the extra power is channeled through tuned BMW M3 M DCG dual clutch seven-speed transmission. Calling its upgraded larger calliper fully ventilated brakes equipped with six piston in the front and 4 pistons in the rear as improved would be the wrong word selection and highly inadequate for the superior delivery of braking power way above already potent ability in standard form. Suspension recalibration also contributed to lower stance reducing the overall ground clearance by another few millimetres, featuring adjustable dampers, coil-over springs set-up and stiffened up rear axle assembly. Furthermore, its Dynamic Stability Control and ABS have been tuned to fit the purpose further improving its racetrack characteristics.

Fighting the gravitational forces, this GTS has gone through a diet deleting rear seats from its standard inclusion, polycarbonate side and rear windows replacing heavier glass option and reduction in sound insulation materials all helped to shed few kilos. Further adding to its individuality is the inclusion of specific GTS 19”Y-Spoke design wheels painted in Mat black and adjustable rear and front spoilers also painted in black. Special full race spec bucket front seats with 5-point harness, orange painted roll cage, fire extinguisher are on the plus list. Climate control and audio entertainment has been replaced by open windows and incredible exhaust acoustics. What more would you want? But don’t expect it down under as most of the limited edition examples have been already pre-sold in Europe before the actual showroom release date scheduled for early next year.
