BMW introduced the all new 5 series line up. Its been a long time coming for BMW to farewell its most successful 5 series model recently replaced by the all new line up with 3 new models. BMW has returned to its more conservative styling with its new addition. The current line up is offered with three alternatives starting with NA 528i and 535i six cylinder Turbo straight six mated with eight speed automatic transmission and a 550i V8 also with 8 speed automatic transmission.  There will also be a diesel version offered for sale from September 2010 which will be fitted with auto start and go system. Prices start at $93,300 all the way to $178,900 for the V8 variant. Head up display is now standard across the range that projects vital driver information onto the windscreen further improving driver experience. Standard Safety features include ABS, Dynamic stability and traction control, six airbags, active head restrain, Active cruise control with Stop-and-Go, Seatbelt pretension, force limiters and active front steering. Interior of the car receives Dakota full leather upholstery with 4 way electric front seats, new generation iDrive. Top of the range is also offered with comfort seats that includes built in heating and ventilation.

Optional extras will offer new owners lane change warning system, park assist with surround view camera and heat sensing infrared night vision displayed in the centre stack display, active rear steering , adaptive drive that combine Driving Dynamic Control, Electronic Damper Control and Active Roll Bar Stabilisation. 528i produces 190kw of power with 310Nm of torque covering 0-100 distance in reasonable 6.7 seconds. Fuel consumption is claimed to be 8.0l/100km. 535i single turbo with Valvetronic variable system produces 225kw of power with 400Nm of torque. BMW 550i twin turbo with 298kw of power (same as 750i) will catapult the vehicle to 100km/h in just under 5 seconds. Strut type suspension from outgoing 5 series has been replaced with Multi-Link set up, much of which is shared with all new 7 series car model. The six generations BMW 5 series will be available from June 2010.
