It started back in 1985 when under Group A race rules any manufacturer would have to sell 5000 road going version first to qualify their car for Group A Racing. Moreover, BMW did just that, creating its first M series 3 bullet. Since then a lot has changed. Adding extra four cylinders for starters is the most obvious change between what was then and what is new, BMW M3 E92 4 litre V8 brutal maniac. Some say there is nothing quite like owning a BMW M3 almost reassuring long term relationship between owners and anything that is worthy of the BMW M3 badge. First introduced in Geneva Motor show back in 2007, it was fitted with high revving V8 Engine developing 309kW at 8300 rpm. Not shy of big torque with 400Nm available at driver disposal ready to take it to the rear wheels. Capable of 4.6 seconds delivery to 100km/h with revolutionary super-smooth M DCG double clutch seven speed transmission. Six-speeder manual is also available for those craving more involvement. Traction is aided by Torque-sensitive, variable differential and Dynamic Stability Control, M Dynamic Mode and optional Electronic Damper Control system. Packed with standard safety features it also includes usual braking assistance technology, front, head and side airbags and seatbelt pretensions with load limiters to name the few.

Interior is fitted with BMW long list of features including full leather trim, sport seats, multifunction steering wheel, upgraded entertainment system with build in TV tuner, all the usual connectivity to everyday portable data storage devices and much more.
Most popular as coupe, four-door sedan and two-door convertible version is also available. Considering M3 high level of technological advancements required to keep all that power under control all added extra weight to the bottom line have been offset by lightweight approach with its carbon fibre roof, extended use of aluminium throughout the body and framework, lightweight engine and transmission all there to keep the diet under control.
Separated form the standard 3 series stable by revised front and rear end treatment, bulged up bonnet, unique side skirts, flared guards providing home to oversized rubber, added inlet vents on the bonnet and side guards with purpose and not just for good looks, twin pipe exhaust outlets on both sides all add to the M3 individualism. In addition, let’s not forget M3 carbon Fibre roof or distinctively designed side view mirrors. In fact, only the front doors, headlights and taillight assembly and boot is shared with normal BMW 3 series coupe. Take it up from any angle and without any doubt this subtle exterior changes make this car instantly recognisable as BMW M3 with added badges to satisfy curiosity for those less informed. As BMW put it “20 years and still designed to Thrill”, we could not agree more.
