The all new 5 series Touring is scheduled to arrive down under in October 2010. Its 565 litre luggage capacity can be expanded to 1680 litres once the rear seats are folded providing plenty of storage space for the needy. For quick access to the rear storage area the rear window can be opened with a push of a button whilst the back seats can also be lowered through the back using the control levers located in the luggage compartment. Rear compartment cover will automatically lower when the tailgate door is closed. New Generation 5 series BMW Touring will expand into 520d and 535i when it arrives in Australia with pricing to be expected around $90K for the 520d and around $120K for the 535i. Car Mechanicals will be identical to its sedan siblings with 2.0 litre diesel and 3 litre Turbo straight six mated to 8 speed automatic transmission assisted with BMW Dynamic Driving control, Adaptive Drive and self levelling rear air suspension.BMW 5 Series Touring innovative approach will see the introduction of Parking Assist, Active cruise control with collision warning and brake activation, lane change and departure warning, Night Vision, Surround View and revised Head up Display with speed control to further assist driver and passenger safety. Revised night cabin illumination that has been tastefully integrated across the dash and door skins is also much improved over its predecessor.Exterior of the car features longer nose with shorter overhangs, slightly steeper roofline than previous model and longest wheelbase in its segment. BMW took more conservative styling approach returning back to sleeker lines of E39. However, the all new BMW 5 series front design of the distinctively BMW kidney grill has been maintained on this model.
