Audi shift focus towards Mexico

Audi has decided to extend its manufacturing arm to include Mexico with plans to use new vehicle assembly point in Mexico for its SUV production activities with rumoured next generation Audi Q5 said to be the first Mexican built Audi to roll out of the Mexican assembly line from as early as 2016. Audi is yet select the appropriate site for the new production facility in Mexico that will be responsible for producing up to 150,000 vehicles p.a. that Audi says will make it possible to supply Mexican built vehicles to US and beyond made possible by “competitive cost structure and existing free-trade agreements” that played pivotal role in selection process.   
“As an established carmaking location, Mexico offers an excellent economic basis for Audi production operations.” further added by, “In launching production operations in Mexico, Audi will enhance its own competitiveness and move closer to its sales target of 2,000,000 units’ p.a. by 2020.” Rupert Stadler, Chairman Audi AG.
